One House, Many Rooms, One Considered Whole. We had previously made curtains for the property's former owners, and when the home changed hands, they were kind enough to pass on our details to the new family. It was a project where discretion mattered as much as design, and the brief spanned several rooms: an open-plan living area, a study, a playroom and multiple bedrooms, each with its own requirements, all needing to work together as a cohesive whole.
The Brief
Each room presented its own brief. The open-plan living area needed curtains that enhanced natural light during the day and provided privacy at night. The study required sound-absorbing materials to create a calm workspace. The playroom needed durable, child-friendly fabrics that could handle daily life. And in the bedrooms, blackout linings were essential for a proper night's sleep. The home combined modern and classic design elements throughout, and the curtains needed to complement both without jarring against either.
Design and Materials
Floor-to-ceiling curtains with a subtle texture added elegance to the open-plan living area while allowing flexible light control. The curtain rail was colour-matched to the décor and fitted discreetly for smooth, quiet operation.
In the study, thick velvet curtains in a deep, calming colour were chosen for their sound-absorbing qualities and their ability to create a genuinely quiet, focused environment.
The playroom received a stain-resistant, machine-washable fabric that stands up to the demands of a busy family without compromising on appearance. And throughout the bedrooms, lined blackout curtains ensured a genuinely restful sleep environment for the whole family.
Technical Execution
Every curtain was precisely measured and hung by our team. Sleek square profile tracks were used in the bedrooms and playroom for a modern, clean finish, with a matt pole in the living area to complement the overall scheme.
The Result
The curtains brought a sense of luxury and warmth to every room, transforming the feel of the home throughout. Each room's individual requirements were fully met, light control in the living areas, noise reduction in the study, easy-care practicality in the playroom and true blackout in the bedrooms. The client was delighted with the finished result, praising both the quality of materials and the way everything integrated seamlessly with the existing décor.
